"SHOP FROM YOUR PANTRY AND RESUPPLY FROM THE STORE"
"PARK YOUR CAR, NOT YOUR FOOD STORAGE, IN THE GARAGE"
Store foods you normally eat!
STORE 3 WEEKS SUPPLY OF FOOD THAT YOU NORMALLY EAT There are many reasons you want to store foods that you normally eat. First, many speculate that in a disaster you will adapt you eating habits and consume what ever food is provided. This is not generally the case. Remember, we try to maintain the greatest level of normality possible during disasters. Secondly, If you store food you normally eat, it will be rotated as part of your normal menu system. Finally, during disasters is a poor time to experiment with your digestive track. Again, no surprises during critical times.
Foods that require minimum preparation and minimal resources, such as fuel and water, are best. For example: Oatmeal is good because you ingest the water used in it's preparation. Pasta may be a poor choice because you throw away the water used for cooking.
